Standard Water Heaters – The Installation Process
Click on the images below to view our step by step process of installing Water Heaters after your old one goes out:
Stage 1: Assessing Your Current Water Heater’s Damage
If your water heater has just gone out, you will not have hot water, and you might even notice substantial water leakage near the heater.
Stage 2: Removing Your Old Water Heater
Rick’s plumbing will handle the entire process of replacing your water heater. First, we drain the old heater and remove it from its platform.
Stage 3: Assessing How Much Damage Has Been Done
Next, depending upon how much damage has been done, we may need to remove the flooring and bottom of the walls surrounding the heater.
Stage 4: New Flooring and Drywall.
Once the area is clear we will put in new flooring and patch any walls around the platform.
Stage 5: Install New Water Heater
Lastly, we put in the new heater and install a pressure relief line, a gas flex, water flexes, and earthquake straps to leave you with a nice, clean new water heater.

Tankless Water Heaters – The Installation Process

Stage 1: Assessing Your Current Water Heater’s Damage
Whether It’s a standard or tankless water header, the damage will be assessed and the existing heater will be removed, along with the flexes and ventilation.
Stage 2: Adjusting Location (if necessary) and Replacing Damaged Piping
The new heater will be fitted to the wall to ensure the correct location of the new piping and ventilation. Old water piping will be replaced with Type L, high quality copper. Old gas piping will be replaced with high quality black steel piping.
Stage 3: Patching Any Removed Drywall
Rick’s Plumbing will also patch any drywall that has been removed, saving time, money, and hassle for the customer.
Stage 4: Installing the New Tankless Water Heater
To finish the job, the new tankless water heater is installed, along with new ventilation. Isolation valves are also installed, allowing for a quick cleansing if the heater needs to be descaled. Electrical cords are zip-tied and hidden to leave you with a professional, clean-looking job!

Water Softeners – The Installation Process

Stage 1: Picking a Location
Depending on where the customer would like the Water Softener to be installed, the best location to tie into the main water supply is determined.
Stage 2: Removing Drywall (if necessary)
Usually, the main water supply can be tied into through piping located outside, and removing drywall is not necessary; however if it is, Rick’s Plumbing will remove only the drywall necessary to access the main water supply.
Stage 3: Installing the Water Softener Supply and Return Lines
High quality, Type L copper is used for the installed water lines. All fittings are soldered together, and copper straps are used to keep the piping steady and in-line.
Stage 4: Patching Any Removed Drywall
Rick’s Plumbing will also patch any drywall that has been removed, saving time, money and hassle for the customer.
Stage 5: Installing the Water Softener and Brian’s Tank
To finish the job, the Water Softener and Brian’s Tank are installed. Earthquake straps are fitted to secure the Water Softener, electrical cords are zip-tied and hidden, and tubes are secured to the wall with copper straps to leave you with a professional, clean-looking job.

Yesterday I realized that our water heater was leaking. I called Rick’s plumbing and explained to Rick the situation. He said that he had had a cancellation and that he could be over within a few hours. He arrived and within a couple of hours had installed a new water heater for us. He replaced all of the straps and attachments necessary to complete the job. He is a very neat and clean plumber, hard to find these days. Where do I begin with how awesome Rick is? I called him years ago because we wanted a water softner and he came by that same day and gave us a free quote. He then had the water softner installed two days later. I then called him several weeks later because our washer hook ups were leaking, and he came by and fixed that AND put in a new drain for our bathtub. I’ve called/texted him numerous times and instead of charging me he has given me free consultation over the phone. Then today he came and replaced our reverse osmosis system, fixed the leak under our kitchen sink, put new pipes AND replaced our faucet. Rick did so much work for us and has never charged and arm and a leg. I would say he undercharges for how much work he does.
